Jamie Clark
I am so excited to be a 2010 (pronounced twenty-ten) Mr. Spartan contestant. My partner is Jamie Clark and we are planning the Rock n' Jock basketball game with Mr. CV. For me, Mr. Spartan will be a great way to finish my busy and exciting high school experience. I have a reputation for filling my schedule with difficult classes, but I only do that because I enjoy most of the classes that I take. I also played football and wrestled, both for all four years. This year I was a team captain for football and I am currently a team captain for wrestling. When it was neither wrestling nor football season, I was lifting weights. I was a Boy Scout and I earned my Eagle Scout Award last summer. I am an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
I expect Mr. Spartan to be fun, but that is not the main reason that I am eager to participate. Mr. Spartan is a chance for me to give my time to help people in need. I want to be part of this amazing program, which has raised so much money to help people in many different ways. Helping others is the right thing to do and I am going to seize this chance to do it.
Josh Woods
Hello,
My name is Jamie Clark.
I am one of the Mr. Spartan girls. My partner is Josh Woods.
I was born in Northport, Alabama and moved to Oregon when I was four years old. Honestly, after 14 years I still have not gotten used to the rain and cold; but I have grown to love Corvallis. I specifically love the size of the town, which is big enough for me to never be bored yet small enough to ride a bike anywhere. Also, I love the college town feel and the town’s emphasis on community and helping your neighbors.
Throughout high school I have taken part in many activities. I am on the Corvallis High School (CHS) Girl’s Basketball team, and I am President of the CHS Diversity Club. I have worked as a basketball coach, an intern at Oregon State University in the Department of Chemical Engineering, and a pool attendant. Because I have tried many different experiences I have had the opportunity to truly discover what I want to do in life. Next fall I will attend college to study civil and environmental engineering in the hopes of gaining the knowledge and experience to have a career designing and building sustainable buildings in third world countries such as Haiti, Senegal, and Rwanda.
I joined the Mr. Spartan pageant not just because it is fun and exciting, but most importantly because it is a good way for me to continue helping those in need within my community. I can’t wait to get started!
