Haley Schuster

Why Hello!

            My name is Scott Havard, and I have been honored with being one of Corvallis High School’s 2010 Mr. Spartan contestants. I feel lucky to be able to participate with the entire Mr. Spartan crew this year, and even luckier to have been paired with Haley Schuster, my fantastic Mr. Spartan girl. What a year we have ahead of us.

            Now for a little bit on who I am… I have been a three sport athlete throughout my high school career, competing in soccer, swimming and lacrosse. I take great pride in competing for my school, and I have a great time doing it. When I am not sprinting across a field or swimming across a pool, I like to spend my time on the coast or in the mountains. There is nothing that I enjoy more than a bluebird Saturday spent on the slopes with my friends and family, except for maybe a day spent on my surfboard in a clean, long period five-foot swell with a crisp offshore breeze.

            I do have a list of favorites, but in general I am a man of many tastes, and refuse to confine myself to just one “flavor”. If I had to narrow it down though, my favorite color is green, favorite food is sushi, most prominent hero is Nelson Mandela, and my favorite ice cream is jamoca almond fudge.. it’s hard to go wrong there.

Hi, my name is Haley Schuster.  I’m lucky to be partnered with Scott Havard and we will be planning the Car Wash and Can Drive.  I am also in the group that is working on advertising.

Right now I’m working on scholarships because I’ve been accepted early decision to Scripps College in Claremont, California (outside of Los Angeles).  I don’t know what I want to study yet, but I can leave that to figure out later.

While Mr. Spartan may take up the bulk of my time in the coming months, hopefully I’ll be able to still do the other activities I enjoy.  I’ve been playing piano for about eight years. For the past three years I’ve sung in Corvallis High School’s Mixed Chorus and Concert Choir.  I’ve raised goats for 4H since I was in 4th grade.  I also own and ride horses and play golf for CHS.  Lastly, I love to travel and hope to someday go to every continent and see all the wonders of the world!

I wanted to be in Mr. Spartan because over the years that I’ve attended CHS, I’ve seen all that it does for the community and how much fun the contestants have while doing it.  I love having the opportunity to not only make a difference in other peoples lives, but to also have a blast while doing it!
