Alana Schaffer

My name is Tyler McFadden and I am very excited to be a part of the 2010 Mr. Spartan fundraiser.  Over the next three months, I will be organizing events, learning some pretty cool dance moves, and taking part in all sorts of embarrassing shenanigans to raise money for charity.  My partner in all this is Alana Schaffer.  Together, we are organizing the Mr. Spartan Auction that will be held Saturday, April 10th.

Outside of Mr. Spartan, I am one of the student directors of the CHS band.  Apart from directing the pep band at football and basketball games, I play percussion in the Wind Ensemble and Jazz band.  I have also played in the orchestras of four school musicals at CHS, of which I think Little Shop of Horrors was my favorite.  During the summer, I like to spend as much time as possible backpacking in the mountains.  One day I hope to complete the 2,600-mile trek from Mexico to Canada on the Pacific Crest Trail.

Next year I will attend Oregon State University where I plan to major in Music Education.  I also plan to continue my studies in Spanish and Political Science and spend a term studying music abroad in Cuba.

Tyler Mcfadden

I’m Alana Schaffer and I am a senior at Corvallis High School. I am native to the Willamette Valley, born in our one and only Good Samaritan Hospital. As far as extracurricular activities go, I sing in the Heart of the Valley choir, perform Modern and Ballroom dance, Nordic ski, and run Cross Country. I am looking forward to attending a liberal arts college and majoring in social studies and foreign languages. Although I love the rain and Corvallis, several of my prospective colleges are far away near the cold Great Lakes. A little change is always good!

I am partnered with Tyler McFadden. With another pair, we are organizing the Silent Auction. For the pageant I am putting together the program and tickets. I decided to do Mr. Spartan because it always seemed like so much fun. It’s a wonderful way to give back to the community and help others. I enjoy all of the fun and craziness involved, and bonding with so many incredible people!
